It Started With One Person Who Saw Something in Me

There was a time when I walked into work every day feeling stuck. I knew I was capable of more, but I couldn't see a path forward.I wasn't sure what I wanted to do. And even if I had known, I didn't believe I had what it took to get there.

Then something happened that changed the direction of my career.

The head of my department called me into his office and offered me a promotion.

I was shocked.

Instead of saying "Thank you," I looked at him and asked,

"Why me?"

His answer changed my life.

He saw potential in me long before I could see it in myself.

More importantly, he didn't just give me an opportunity.

He coached me.

He helped me develop the skills and confidence I needed to succeed.

That experience completely changed how I think about leadership.

Because I realized something that has stayed with me throughout my career:

Over the years, I went from working in customer service to designing and delivering global leadership development programs, managing people, leading teams, and eventually leading an entire division within a Fortune 500 company.
